Tunde Onakoya, a prominent Nigerian chess master and soon-to-be Guinness World Record breaker, has slammed the popular worldwide online daily Daily Mail Us for deleting his name from their piece.
The Games master unveiled his name by quoting a tweet they sent from their X microblogging website.
The online publication published a story about Tunde’s attempt to break the Guinness World Record by playing chess for 60 hours and learning the game.
While compiling their report, they merely mentioned that he was Nigerian and did not specify his name.
Their actions irritated countless Nigerians, including Tunde, prompting them to storm their page and vent their indignation.

Their tweet contained:
“Nigerian man who played chess for 60 hours in Times Square overcame ‘debilitating’ illness from a botched vaccination to smash the world record – and learned the strategy game at a barbershop”
While Tunde responded with; “His name is Tunde Onakoya” with a Nigerian flag emoji.
Below are some of the reactions,
@SHEGGs_YBNL: it’s really unfortunate and a big shame that you didn’t mention his name and instead associated his country with him just because he’s an African man and also black. That’s not cool at all, I’m highly disappointed in you all
@Omolomo_o: His name is TUNDE ONAKOYA. Correct it and come back to give us the news!!!
