Chigozie Effe voiced his concern over Lydia’s life-threatening situation in an emotional plea posted on his Facebook page.
Her physicians have concluded that she requires five pints of blood in order to successfully undergo the essential procedure.
Lydia’s religious beliefs, however, have prompted her to reject this medical intervention in favor of a blood capsule, which medical authorities have ruled unsuitable given the urgency of the procedure.
Lydia’s illness has put the medical team in an awkward situation, as they recognize that time is of the essence and her blood levels are severely low. The refusal to proceed with the surgery without the required blood transfusions increases the risk to her life, leaving everyone involved feeling frantic and unsure of the best course of action.
