Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Ibrahim Attahiru,along side 10 others have reportedly died, after an Air-force plane conveying them, crashed in Kaduna State, on Friday evening, May 21.
The officers were said to be on their way to Kaduna ahead of Saturday’s passing-out parade of soldiers from the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria.
According to reports, the plane which crashed at the Kaduna International Airport around 6pm, exploded and got burnt completely.
Mr Attahiru was appointed chief of army staff on January 26, succeeding Tukur Buratai. He was 54.
The Nigerian Air Force has now issued a statement confirming that there was a crash, but did not immediately say the personalities onboard.
