On Friday morning, Aiza Nwosu, a well-known Awka comedian and public information presenter, was involved in an accident.
According to reports, the incident also involved three onlookers who were waiting for buses at the famous Aroma intersection.
Nwosu is well-known in Awka, Anambra State’s capital, where he drives about in vans equipped with several loudspeakers and plays loud music.
He periodically parks his car on the roadside, blasts loud music, and dances to it.He was driving towards the Government House from Aroma when his vehicle crashed with passengers waiting for buses at the junction.
An eyewitness claimed the event was caused by a brake failure, and the persons he hit, including a tricycle rider, were brought to the hospital.
When our correspondent arrived at the accident scene, authorities from the Awka Capital Territory Development Agency, ACTDA, were seen removing some of the vehicle’s music equipment to prevent it from being damaged.
Onlookers at the site reluctant to speak with journalists, but one ACTDA official who did speak simply remarked that he was unable to explain how the incident occurred.
“We just got here. We were in the office when we were called to move fast about this emergency. I cannot explain how it happened.
“We know that Aiza is alive and has been moved to hospital for treatment,” he said.
The road was littered with broken windshields from Aiza’s vehicle, and at the time of filling this story, the officials were making arrangements to tow the crashed vehicle to their office.
