“It’s slave mentality charging in dollars in your country” Do2dtun tells Nigerian artists

Do2dtun, a well-known media figure, has criticized Nigerian musicians for charging in dollars.

Do2dtun delivered a message to artists on Twitter, now known as X, expressing his opinion that the Afrobeat genre they created together might be destroyed by musicians themselves.

He observed that many musicians nowadays only take payments in dollars and fail to realize the sense of community that their style of music affords them and their audience.

“This Afrobeat we all built together, na Una go use Una hands spoil am. You now charge your own people in dollars. Forget to unlock the togetherness the genre gives you and your people. Quite strange and bizarre”.

A Netizen tackled him for his tweet, reminding him that the dollar is on the rise.

“Dollar don rise”

Do2dtun responded to him by asking if Nigerian musicians couldn’t bill in their own Naira.

He continued by saying that charging in dollars within one’s own country is akin to having a slave mindset and questioned why musicians in other countries didn’t charge Naira.

“You no fit charge for Naira? It’s a slave mentality charging in your country in dollars. Why are you not charging Naira in the UK or America”

Taking to the comment section, many concurred with him.
