Version 1: Musa Mukanga, a Kenyan man, has received a life sentence for just taking a second-hand phone from a friend.The whole affair began on September 2nd, 2013, when Musa’s friend handed him the mobile cellphone. Musa had no idea that this seemingly harmless deed would have such serious effects. Trusting his friend’s intentions, he inserted his SIM card and entered his PIN, only for the phone to shut off unexpectedly due to a low battery.
In pursuit of a solution, Musa brought the phone to his sister’s hotel to charge it, returning it the next morning before leaving for work. However, when he attempted to open the gadget, he discovered he lacked the required password, rendering it utterly inaccessible.

Desperate to fix the problem, Musa gave the phone to his sister, directing her to return it to his friend, Ng’ang’a, when he came. Little did he know that this decision would lead to his demise.
Tragically, a week later, police confronted Musa, arresting him and demanding an explanation for the phone in his hands. Musa, confused and unaware of the gravity of the situation, inadvertently divulged the events surrounding the phone, accidentally incriminating himself and his friend.
As a result, Musa and Ng’ang’a were arrested. During interrogation, Ng’ang’a admitted to giving Musa with the controversial phone. Despite Musa’s cries of innocence and his full ignorance about the phone’s suspicious origins, the justice system remained steadfast, sentencing him to death, which was later commuted to a life sentence.
