Naira Marley, Sam Larry granted bail after weeks in detention, receive stern warning

Controversial After weeks in detention, Nigerian artist Abdulazeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley, and his helper, Samson Elutu, well known as Sam Larry, were given bail.

According to a report obtained by Kemi Filani, the beleaguered industry executives have not been given bail, but have been ordered to pay three sureties in the amount of N20 million.

Naira and Larry have also been ordered to forfeit their international passports and attend weekly at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The Magistrate warned them to avoid contacting her directly, as all attempts would be logged and potentially disclosed in open court sessions.

Following the death of late musician Mohbad, Naira Marley and Sam Larry were accused of physically abusing the singer and were arrested.

Naira Marley and Sam Larry filed a lawsuit last week against the Magistrate and Police for their indefinite arrest.

The complaint was filed in the Federal High Court in Lagos, and the police and magistrate were named as defendants, with each claiming N20 million in damages.

The lawsuit has sparked debate, with some supporting them and others noting how they were suspected of murder, therefore their arrest.

On October 4, 2023, a Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos State, remanded Naira Marley and Sam Larry on claims of bullying the late former Marlian Music signee Mohbad.

Despite the fact that the Lagos State Police Command had requested a 30-day remand for Naira Marley and the others in order to conclude their current investigation, Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun determined that a 21-day remand would enough.
