Jirair Ratevosian, an Armenian-American, is going to marry Michael Ighodaro, a Nigerian LGBT rights campaigner.
On Wednesday, October 4, the New York-based man, who sees himself as the first African-born gay male living with HIV to co-lead a global organization, turned to the microblogging site X to spread the news.
The public health expert disclosed in a photo with his partner that they are getting married in five days.

He went on to say that their wedding will ignite a major debate in both of their nations, Nigeria and Armenia, where homosexuality is frowned upon.
He tweeted,
“In 5 days, I’ll say ‘I do’ to an amazing person, despite global love challenges. Grateful to soon call them my spouse. Our wedding will spark important conversations in our countries, we are determined to show love conquers all.”
Michael and Jirair got engaged last year.
