Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, better known as Davido, got into a fight with music producer Napji about alleged unpaid royalties.
On April 23rd, 2024, Napji accused Davido of not paying him for his work on the tracks “Fem,” “Jowo,” and “Sunlight” from his 2020 album “A Better Time.”
Napji stated that he only received an advance of N500k for each song, totaling N1.5 million.
He did, however, restate his rights to revenue and publication credits, addressing Davido specifically in the Instagram post.
He vowed to provide further information as he pursued what he believed was due to him in terms of recompense.
He wrote:“I am Napji, producer behind Fem, Jowo and sunlight on @davido album (A better time). Which was released 13th November 2020.”
“I was paid an advance of 500 thousand naira for each of the songs. I will be releasing more information as I seek to collect my royalties & publishing”.
Upon seeing Napji’s public call-out, Davido swiftly responded on his verified Instagram and Twitter accounts with a curt dismissal, simply stating,“Ur Papa.”
