Rex Kondwani, 45, of Malawi, hung himself after his wife gave the K12,000 they had earned via gardening labour to a church.
According to local reports, the incident occurred on September 6 in Muwalo Village, Thyolo District, Malawi.
In a statement, Masambanjati Police Senior Superintendent George Kaleso confirmed the suicide.
According to Kaleso, the couple was hired to do gardening piecework and were paid K12,000, which the wife took.
“Yesterday, when Mr. Kondwani asked for his share, the wife told him she had donated the money to their local church,” he said.
He said that the woman’s revelation prompted a fight between the couple. Unfortunately, the individual was found hanging from the top of the church where the money was donated.
