Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, came under fire as the country entered the 21st day of the Russian invasion. Reports came from the Associated Press that Russia’s offensive action in Ukraine had begun getting closer to the capital on Tuesday. Three NATO leaders planned a visit to Kyiv as a series of strikes occurred. These attacks affected a residential community in the embattled Ukrainian capital.
On Tuesday, Ukrainians in Kyiv woke up to a series of large expressions across the city from what were reported to be artillery strikes. The shelling led to a large fire and a panicked rescue effort on a 15-story apartment building. Several people were trapped inside and at least one person died from the attacks.
This attack occurred just as peace talks were being arranged for Tuesday morning and the NATO leaders planned a visit to Kyiv.
In the meantime, even as Russia continued its attack on Kyiv, leaders of Poland, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic insisted they would still travel to Kyiv on Tuesday to display support for the country, the AP reports.
